@kusuriya I really feel like we're entering a dark age of mass surveillance and unshakable control by entrenched powers, until some future revolution where people start demanding limits around this stuff. Where constitutions limit not just government but *all* concentrations of power.
@freakazoid yeah, I honestly do take a bit of a fatalistic approach myself of "Well I want to use that service and understand the risk" knowing full well that I don't actually really understand the risk, Facebook proved that to everyone. But sometimes I just want to use that one service everyone else is for some dumb reason.
But yeah knowing how the sausage gets made changes everything and I have some buddies that wont talk to me any more because I "spoil the internet" for them.

In today's world of automated emails, it is costless for a recruiter to ping you repeatedly for the same position if you do not respond. There is zero effort involved on their part; they just write up a template and then their system does it automatically.
